Using the News Literacy Project’s Framework for Teaching News Literacy and Grade band expectations for teaching news literacy, we’ll dive into how to design news literacy instruction from K-12. We’ll discuss standards, essential questions, objectives, and suggested performance tasks. We’ll preview potential learning activities. And we'll model how to scaffold skills, content knowledge and dispositions for grades K-12, 3-5, 6-8 and 9-12. Participants will leave with at least one – but hopefully many – ideas to take back to implement news literacy instruction in their educational settings.
