As we close the books on another school year — quite literally —we want to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude for your incredible dedication, creativity, and heart. The work you do every single day in our school libraries transforms the lives of students across Los Angeles, and this year's numbers tell a remarkable story.

That's nearly 3.8 million checkouts across our libraries this year. Nearly 3.8 million moments of curiosity, discovery, and connection — made possible because of you.
Behind every one of those checkouts is a student who chose to read. And behind every one of those students is a Teacher Librarian or Library Technician who made the library a place worth coming back to. You curated the collections, recommended the books, welcomed the reluctant readers, and never stopped believing in the power of a good story or a well-researched answer.
This year we also celebrate a very special milestone: the retirement of colleagues who have given years — and in many cases, entire careers — to the students and schools of LAUSD. Your experience, guidance, and long-standing dedication to this work have left a lasting impression on our library community. Congratulations, and thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Enjoy every well-deserved moment of what comes next.
And to our first-year library staff — you made it! Your first year is unlike any other: new systems, new faces, new challenges around every corner. You showed up, figured it out, and served your students with dedication and grace. We are so proud to have you on this team and cannot wait to see what you accomplish in the years ahead.
